(PaCT-2007) Ninth International Conference September 3-7, 2007 Pereslavl-Zalessky, Russia http://www.ssd.sscc.ru/conference/pact2007/ Sponsored by Russian Academy of Sciences Russian Foundation for Basic Research WELCOME The Institute of Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Geophysics (Novosibirsk) of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (http://www.sscc.ru) and the Institute of Program Systems (Pereslavl- Zalessky) of Russian Academy of Sciences (http://botik.ru/PSI/PSI.html) are jointly organizing the Ninth International Conference on PARALLEL COMPUTING TECHNOLOGIES (PaCT-2007). The conference will be held in Pereslavl-Zalessky, September 3-7, 2007. Eight previous conferences have been held in Novosibirsk (1991), Obninsk (1993), St.-Petersburg (1995, LNCS Vol.964), Yaroslavl (1997, LNCS Vol. 1277), Pushkino (1999, LNCS Vol.1662), Novosibirsk (2001, LNCS Vol.2127), Nizhni Novgorod (2003, LNCS Vol 2763) and Krasnoyarsk (2005, LNCS Vol 3606). The aim of the PaCT-2007 is to give an overview of new developments, applications, and trends in parallel computing technologies. We sincerely hope this conference will help to our deepen u nderstanding of parallel computing technologies by providing a forum for an exchange of views between scientists and specialists from over the world. We welcome your active participation. MAIN TOPICS * New trends and models in Parallel Programming * All aspects of the applications of parallel computer systems * Methods and tools for parallel solution of large-scale problems * Languages, environment and software tools supporting parallel processing * Operating systems, scheduling, mapping, load balancing * General architecture concepts, enabling technologies * Performance measurement and analysis * Fine-grained parallelism and Cellular Automata * Teaching parallel processing * Software for GRID computing CALL FOR PAPERS Original manuscripts are solicited for the conference. The full paper (not more then 15 pages) or an extended abstract (about 5-7 pages) should be submitted. Let us note that it is more difficult for the Program Committee to make a decision about the paper while reviewing an extended abstract. The papers should be sent to the conference address (see below). Only electronic submission of manuscripts is accepted. The first page should include (but not be limited to) the following information: title, the authors' full names, affiliation, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address. To gain the better understanding of your abstract, we also request that you include the following information: short review of related papers, formulation of the problem, objectives, description of results, main ideas, and list of references. All papers will be internationally reviewed. Authors will be notified of acceptance by March 15, 2007. We will require camera-ready copy of the accepted paper by May 20, 2007. The organizers expect that the authors of selected papers will present their papers in Pereslavl-Zalessky. Please, use Springer Verlag format. SPECIAL SESSION The relation between CA and traditional approaches to simulation (O.Bandman) In the framework of the Conference PaCT-2007 the special session "The relation between CA and traditional approaches to simulation" is planned to be held. The special session aims to create a scientific community of researchers involved in use and studying simulation technologies based on Cellular Automata (CA) ideas and having no counterparts in traditional numerical mathematics. The scope of the special session covers the following topics: 1. Theory of fine-grain computations (behavioral properties, termination conditions, synchronous versus asynchronous modes of operation, methods of analysis and synthesis) 2. Parallel implementation of simulation algorithms on multiprocessor systems (methods of parallelization and experimental results) 3. New classes (extension) of Cellular Automata models: asynchronous probabilistic CA (Monte-Carlo), Movable CA, Cellular evolutionary algorithms, agent systems and some yet unknown models and so on. 4. Applications of Cellular Automata in physics and chemistry 5. Gas-Lattice and Gas-Lattice-Boltzmann model applications experience 6. Application of Cellular Automata for simulating social processes 7. Application of Cellular Automata in Material Sciences 8. Application of Cellular Automata in Biology. Discussion The discussion is planned to be held, where some relevant problems concerning the relations between CA and PDE simulation approaches should be discussed. So, the participants are invited to propose the subjects for the overall discussion. The following topics are considered for the debates: 1) What simulation methods should be comprised by the concepts of Fine-grain and Coarse grain parallelism. 2) What is the future of CA-simulation? 3) Where is the border between the fine-grain and the coarse-grained parallelisms? 4) What is the place of CA-models application in Parallel Computing? Any paper independently on its topic should discuss also the technological aspects of the results application. TECHNICAL DETAILS The papers should be prepared in LNCS style (Microsoft Word, LaTeX) http://www.springeronline.com/sgw/cda/frontpage/0,10735,5-164-2-72376-0,00.h tml. PROCEEDINGS The Conference Proceedings are planned to be published as the volume of the Springer Verlag LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) series and distributed at the Conference. Selected papers will be published in special issue of the Int. journal on Future Generation Computer Systems (Elsevier Science), devoted to parallel computing technologies. LANGUAGE The official language of the Conference is English. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES It is high time for everybody to visit this ancient town situated not far away from Moscow. There are a great number of historical places to visit and enjoy. All year round a lot of tourists come here to enjoy the sights. It will be possible to attend the Spaso-Preobrazhensky cathedral (one of the oldest white-stone cathedrals in Russia), the Red square (the first square in Pereslavl, historical centre of old town), the Earth Ramparts (ground fortifications . XII century), Peter the First Museum with little boat, made by young prince Peter, Goritsky Monastery with the statue of Yuri Dolgoruky (founder of our town) and many others. There are also new exhibitions attracting tourists and guests of Pereslavl, such as Kettle Museum and Iron Museum. One of the most beautiful places in Pereslavl is Pleshcheyevo Lake. Welcome to Pereslavl-Zalessky! IMPORTANT DATES * Submission of the full paper January 20, 2007 * Submission of the extended abstract February 5, 2007 * Notification of acceptance: March 15, 2007 * Camera-ready version of the accepted paper: May 20, 2007 CONTACT INFORMATION Novosibirsk Pereslavl-Zalessky PaCT-2007 Organising Committee PaCT-2007 Organising Committee Supercomputer Software Department Program Systems Institute Pr.
